As the editor of EvolvingMompreneur.com, I have the pleasure of meeting so many inspiring mompreneurs, and Daniela Wolfe is no exception. Daniela is the founder of Best D Life, LLC, a platform dedicated to helping women prioritize self-care and manage their daily responsibilities with ease. Her journey is deeply personal, stemming from her own experiences of burnout, frustration, and the need to make intentional changes in her life. In this interview, Daniela shares her journey, the evolution of her business, and her hopes for the future.
Finding the Inspiration
Daniela, you mentioned that Best D Life came from your personal experiences. What inspired you to start your business?
“Many years ago, when my kids were younger, around five years and six months old, I went through a divorce. I found myself in a position where I was trying to manage everything—do it all. I wasn’t great at asking for help. That led to me being irritable, burnt out, frustrated, and overwhelmed. And I’m sure many of your readers can relate to feeling that way at some point. I realized something had to change. This wasn’t the life I wanted to lead or the person I wanted my kids to know. So, I started practicing what I preach. I found ways to fit in small but meaningful strategies, habits, and routines to intentionally change my focus and mindset. Even with a five-year-old and a six-month-old, I made those changes—nothing massive, but they were enough to make a difference.”
Alyson: “It’s amazing how personal struggles often spark the need for change and, in turn, inspire businesses that help others facing similar challenges.”
How Best D Life Was Born
You’ve mentioned that you’ve had women come to you for advice. Can you share more about how that influenced the creation of Best D Life?
“Over the years, I’ve had women gravitate toward me, especially during difficult life events—going through a divorce, having babies, or caring for elderly parents. They’d ask me, ‘How do you manage it all?’ or ‘How do you find balance?’ I realized that by empowering these women, showing them their options, and helping them see that taking care of themselves isn’t a luxury, but a necessity, they could make the changes they needed. That’s when I decided to turn my own experiences and techniques into something that could help women on a larger scale. Best D Life became a way to help stressed and burnt-out professionals ditch the guilt and overwhelm, manage daily tasks productively, and make self-care a priority.”
Alyson: “I love that you emphasize self-care as a necessity. That’s something a lot of women still struggle to internalize, even when they know they need it.”
Navigating Challenges
What were some of the biggest challenges you faced when starting your business?
“The hardest part for me was learning the technology and business side of things. As a social worker for over 27 years, I didn’t have a lot of experience with business development or digital tools. But I figured it out, step by step. Another challenge was balancing the time I needed for myself and my kids while getting the business off the ground. I created set routines and habits that ensure I take time for myself every day—whether it’s a morning routine or evening wind-down, I made self-care non-negotiable.”
Alyson: “It’s incredible how you found ways to balance everything, even while facing the learning curves of starting a business.”
The Growth of Best D Life
How has your business evolved since you first started?
“Best D Life has grown in many ways. I now offer 1:1 coaching, a digital micro-course, and corporate speaking/training events. My short-term goal is to publish my book this fall, and long-term, I’d love to expand my speaking events to reach even more women and help prevent burnout.”
Alyson: “That’s so exciting! A book and expanding your speaking events sound like great ways to reach even more women with your message.”
Balancing Life and Business
How do you manage running a business and being a mom at the same time?
“I use a calendar religiously! I set my priorities, pre-schedule my ‘must-dos,’ and always schedule my ‘me time.’ I also monotask instead of multitasking, which helps me stay focused and productive. It’s all about boundaries and sticking to them. Investing in myself has benefitted both my business and my family in the long run.”
Alyson: “Monotasking is such a valuable tip. So many of us get caught up in multitasking, thinking it’s more productive, but it often leads to more stress.”
Tools and Support Networks
What tools do you use to stay organized and keep everything on track?
“I love Calendly for all my scheduling. It keeps everything streamlined, and I use Plann to pre-schedule all my content. These tools have been game-changers in keeping me organized and ahead of my tasks.”
Alyson: “Calendly and Plann are fantastic tools! It’s always interesting to see what apps successful entrepreneurs rely on to keep things running smoothly.”
Do you have any networking groups or communities that have helped you along your journey?
“Yes! I’m a proud board member of Power of the Pack, a brand ambassador for The Beauty Boost Buffalo, and a member of WINC. These groups have given me a tremendous amount of support and connection with other women who are navigating similar challenges in business and life. I truly believe in the power of community and collaboration.”
Alyson: “It’s wonderful that you’re involved in such impactful groups. Networking and community really do make all the difference, especially when it comes to growing as an entrepreneur.”
Overcoming Setbacks
How do you handle setbacks and failures in your business?
“Mindset is everything. Setbacks are inevitable, but I try to see them as setups for something greater. If I learn from them, I can come back stronger. My husband, kids, and professional network have been incredible sources of support, helping me push through those tough moments.”
Alyson: “It’s clear that your mindset and support system have played a huge role in your success.”
The Legacy You Hope to Leave
As a mompreneur, what legacy do you hope to leave behind?
“I want to help other women be fulfilled and successful while modeling for my own kids the impact you can make when you prioritize taking care of yourself every day. My goal is to travel the world, helping others prevent burnout and create their own work-life balance. That’s the legacy I hope to leave behind—one of empowerment and showing that self-care isn’t selfish, but essential.”
Alyson: “That’s such a beautiful legacy. It’s so important to show our kids—and the world—the power of self-care and balance.”
